Can you change the world with a child’s drawing? We believe so.  We feel that by giving children the opportunity to share their voice,through the universal language of art, with other children all over the globe – this is where lives change and hearts are opened.

The Mondo Art Project (MAP), formerly the International HeART Exchange,  is a Mondo Fine Art passion project, started in the summer of 2009, that unites humanitarian organizations in an effort to connect children through art on a global level.

Our intent is to bridge the gap of language, culture and geography –  to open up a world to children they may have not known. If we can help a child in Uganda tell a story to a child in Nepal, who will then tell their story to a child in Peru, and so on… we give them a chance to understand and relate to other children and cultures. They essentially travel the world through the drawings of their international peers. Think of it as “pen pals” but with drawings.

Our goal is to give children of the world a voice – that they tell their story through drawings to children in other parts of the world, as well as having a voice in their own community through murals.

This is all made possible through our wonderful partners. We team up with humanitarian groups, schools,  non-profit organizations, and other caring individuals to reach out to these children through their expeditions, connections, and other resources.

We have set up a blog that will act as a journal for all the trips and art projects. We will post feedback from the groups that conduct the art projects, as well as the children, teachers, etc. We will post pictures of some of the artworks,  the communities they come from and the communities they will go to.

Through our partners, we have already had successful trips to Uganda, Cambodia, Nepal, Thailand, Peru, and have art projects planned in Kenya, Colombia, Ecuador, the Navajo Nation, and various cities in the US in 2010.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Mondo Art Project was created to connect children all over the world through the universal language of art.  Our goal is to give children from all countries, cultures, and backgrounds a voice – a chance to tell their story and communicate with other children through a medium that transcends language barriers.

By partnering with schools, humanitarian groups and other non-profit organizations, we are able to reach out to children, organize art projects, and exchange experiences through artwork created -  connecting children all over the world.
